    100 men were sent to Roanoke Island with Queen Elizabeth's permission, Raleigh sent them over. Roanoke Island was made a colony for the English.

    Fernandez demanded to settle at Roanoke Island since it was considered the perfect place for settlement. Two of the explorers found the spot and considered it a perfect place to stay at. Fernandez demanded to settle at Roanoke Island because he was going back to debate in Europe, between Spain and England.

    In 1590,
    White had a grave discovery when he returned to roanoke. nobody was there! The word "Croaton" was carved in a tree nearby Croaton was a local tribe. He desperately went to find the Croaton village, but a hurricane arose which forced him to return to England. White never got to see his family again because the funds weren't there for more exploration. They called it "the lost colony".

    Over 100 men with John Smith there leader landed in the banks of Virginia's James river which was not healthy to drink. They were immediately attacked by some of my people but their leader demanded them to build a fort for protection. However with all the weather, food decreasing, and diseases, only 60 men survived and went Jamestown. Jamestown became the first ever English colony.

    Captain Smith came back to England when he became ill and stopped visiting the settlement. Then the connections between the settlers and the Powhatan decreased. Four years later, it was heard that John smith had died so Pocahontas went back to visit Jamestown.I was imprisoned because my father had some of New England's soldiers and weapons.

    Pocahontas got married John Rolfe. Pocahontas met John Rolfe at a different settlement where Pocahantas became a christian. Pocahontas encouraged peace between Native Americans and the English.

    Was the big year for Jamestown because that's when the first voted assembly was created. It was named the House of Burgesses. Then, African Americans workers that became indentured servants arrived by a boat to work on land that they could later own. Other indentured servants worked to pay for their trip to the new world. Workers were needed so slavery began.

    The Mayflower took flight. Oceanus Hopkins was born during this time and event. There was bad weather and the people on the boat had to live off of salted beef, dried biscuits called "Hard tack", and dried vegetables that were able to be cooked on the deck. Only one death occurred on the Mayflower.

    Governor William Bradford held a feast celebration. We shared our harvest of foods with the Wampanoags including Squanto, Chief Massasoit, and 90 people of the tribe. The celebration lasted 3 days ,and became a tradition we call Thanksgiving.

    King Charles 2, decided to give William Penn, a quaker, land in the new world, Southwest of New Jersey. The king did this because he owed William's father for a loan. This place was called Sylvania. This place had Puritans from the New England colonies because they were not accepted. This place is now called Pennsylvania. In this land, you were guaranteed free and fair trail by jury, freedom for unjust imprisonments, and freedom of religion and elections.
