In 1638, Peter Minuits was in charge to lead a colony. The first settlement was effected by bounds of Delaware. They claimed to the territory. -
New Jersey Colony
The colony was growing fast. Lord Berkeley and Sir George Cearteret told settlers that they would have freedom of their religion. -
South Carolina Colony
South Carolina used to have groups of Indian tribes. The population decreased because of European diseases when the Europeans arrived. Although, some tribes still exist today. -
New York Colony
In 1664, Charles II gave his brother all of New Netherland and the English came and demanded them to surrender. Afterwards, the territory turned into possession to the English. -
North Carolina Colony
In 1670, a settlement was established and it was easy to trade with the west Indies because of their harbor. -
New Hampshire Colony
The British settlers came to New Hampshire. There was two tribes there. New Hampshire belonged to Massachusetts but they did seperate in 1680. That is when New Hampshire became its own colony. -
Pennsylvania Colony
The Quackers used to give Indians respect and they also bought land from them. This picture represents the Shackamaxon Treaty. -
Massachusetts Colony
In 1620, Massachusetts founded the Plymouth colony. Massachusetts is one of the most important colonies. The owners of Massachusetts Bay company founded the Massachusetts Colony. -
Georgia Colony
Georgia was the only colony to try to prohibit black slavery. They thought that it would threaten military security. Slaves that were brought to Georgia, Spain wanted them to help the Spanish.They didn't allow slavery.
