TERRORIST ATTACK ON THE TWIN TOWERS
On this day, the America opposing group AL-QAEDA sent some members to hijack four planes and crash them into important places in America. Two planes were sent to be crashed into the twin towers in New York. Another was sent to the Pentagon. Another was due to crash into the White House, but they lost control and crashed into a place in Pensylvania -
SARS
On this day, SARS (severe acute respiratory syndrome) started in Guangdong province in china connected to Hong Kong. The devastating results of this severe disease were 298 deaths. During this time, all schools were stopped and all people going out were made to wears masks. After 2003, SARS' roots were successfully traced and stopped. -
COLUMBIA SPACE SHUTTLE
On this day, the Columbia space shuttle shattered on re-entry into the Earth’s atmosphere. At approximately 9.00 am, NASA lost contact with the shuttle, thinking that it was a temporary loss of contact caused by the re-entry although they had already lost contact with several heat sensors a couple of minutes before. With a small hole in the wing of the shuttle, the shuttle exploded, with all seven members of the crew inside. -
UNDERWATER EARTHQUAKE
On this day, an earthquake of magnitude 9.0 struck under the Indian Ocean, releasing the energy of approximately 23000 world war two atomic bombs, causing the biggest tsunami in the world for 40 years. The forces that caused this underwater earthquake were guessed to have started building since hundreds of years ago, and the tsunami claimed approximately 150000 lives and left millions homeless and many aftershocks followed shortly afterwards. -

SADDAM HUSSEIN HANGING
On this day, Saddam Hussein was hanged in Camp Justice, a base in Iraq for crimes against humanity despite his requests to be shot.
