Protection from Cable Service providers
Cable Communications Policy Act of 1984 (CCPA)The Cable Communications Policy Act was established to protect the privacy of a customers of cable service providers. The CCPA, cable companies must provide a written notice of privacy practices to each customer when entering into a service contract. As well as the year after. Before obtaining any information the providers they must have a consent to do so.I give this an B+ because i llike the way it is set up to protect the consumers information however I feel that there are many holes around it -
Privacy of citizens
CDTThe Electronic Communications Privacy Act was passed to balance the needs of law enforcement and the privacy of citizens. Congress enacted this law to help ensure the protection of consumers personal information. I would give this law an A because if a person is a victim of unlawful wiretapping or eavesdropping they're entitled to civil suit of damages and also punitve damages and attnorneys fees. -
Protect the Children
CDTCDT is an organization made to protect people from certain thjings on the internet. The Children's Online Privacy Protection wanted legislation to enforce the protection of what goes on the internet to protect the children from stuff they believe children should not be able to access. I personally do not agree with this because the internet can't be controlled. Anyone can find a way to access pretty much anything on the internet so this will be difficult to enfoce. This is why i give this a C. -
In the case of an emergency
CDTThe Wireless Communication and Public Safety Act amends the Communications Act of 1934 to allow the use of 911 as the unversial emergency number to report emergencies to the proper authorities for help. It applies to both wired and wireless phone services so that it can be used by anyone in the US. I would give this law an A because it allows the citizens of the US to have a number they can call at any time to get help for emergencies. -
Having the control of personal data orginizations
The White HouseThe Consumer Privacy Bill of Rights allow consumers to have the right to exercise control over what personal data organizations collect from them and how they use it. Some of these organizations include Google, Yahoo!, Microsoft and AOL. I would give this Bill an B+ becuase it doesn't allow these companies to gather personal data like they used to. -
Social Media Is My Privacy!
NCSLMany employers now a days are asking for their employees to tell them their usernames and passwords to all their social media and many of the employers are complaining. Six states however have involved the legislation to make it illegal to request information for a personal social media account. I believe that is wrong to take their account info because that is personal so i give this an A- -
Protecting our youth
NCSLThe Calif. Bus & Prof. code will be established to make sure minors are protected from things online that will influence them toward a certain product. Also minors will may be permitted to remove something that they have put on the internet. I give this and A- becuase i believe to many minors believe they can put anything they want on the intdernet and it will be protected but that isn't how it works and some of the stuff they put on there should not be on there.
