Texas Revolution

  • Battle of Gonzales.

    The battle of Gonzales was the first military engagement of the Texas revolution. The Mexican government had given a group of villagers a small cannon to help protect themselves from tribal attacks. After a few years, they wanted to take it back but since the Texans didn't want to give it back a battle broke out.
  • Siege of Bexar

    The Texan army began its attack on San Antonio on December 5. On December nine the Mexican forces were beaten. The Texans won and the commanding general surrendered.
  • The battle of the Alamo begins

    This is the start of major bloodshed. Santa Anna gathered an army and marched to San Antonio. Hearing this Sam Houston ordered the men that were in San Antonio to retreat but they didn’t listen.
  • The fall of the Alamo

    After a long hard battle, the Mexicans won. This battle resulted in many deaths on both sides of the battle This battle inspired all Texans to fight eventually leading to the Texan victory.
  • Goliad Massacre

    James Fannin and his 300 soldiers were surrounded by 700-1000 Mexican soldiers led by General José de Urrea. As a lack of a good leader and the sheer disadvantage of the number of soldiers the Texans lost. Most of the Texan prisoners were executed on Santa Anna's orders.
  • The battle of San Jacinto

    This was the final battle of the Texas Revolution. The Texians led by General Sam Houston attacked Santa Anna and within 18 minutes the Texans were in control of the Mexican camp. Texas finally claimed it's independence form Mexico after a long hard battle for freedom.
