Texas Revolution

  • Siege of Bexar

The Texians fought with Mexicans from Oct 12, 1835, to Dec 11, 1835. The casualties were 300 people, mostly Mexican. After the battle, believing the Mexicans would give them what they wanted, Texians returned to their families. However, Santa Anna didn't want to retreat and prepared his army for war. Sam Houston thought his men weren't ready, so he commanded them to retreat; though the soldiers prepared for war at the alamo.
  • Battle of Concepcion

While the Siege of Bexar was ongoing, another battle was occurring; the battle of Concepcion. During this battle, soldiers would take turns firing (one would reload while another shoots.) This strategy led to the Texians winning who were outnumbered 1:4 by the Mexicans. There existed nearly 70 casualties, mostly Mexican.
  • March on San Antonio

The March on San Antonio signaled the first major loss for Texians. It started as a win through the battle of Concepcion. Though, the Texians went back to their families believing Santa Anna would give the what they wanted. The problem, Santa Anna was preparing for war.
  • Battle of the Alamo

This was the first major loss to the Texians. Santa Anna brought his men to the Alamo and the Texians attempted to defend it. They proved unsuccessful; the Mexicans scaled the wall and killed all 189 Texians defending the Alamo.
  • Goliad Massacre

Santa Anna wished to put an end to this revolution. He decided fear was what he needed, all the imprisoned in the battle of Goliad were split into three groups. Each was told they would have to do labor, though when they turned around they saw Mexicans with guns. The Mexicans open-fired; only 30 escaped. Nearly 450 Texians were ruthlessly killed.
  • Battle of Coleto Creek

James Fannin was the leader of the battle of Goliad, though he was incompetent. When his oxen needed to graze, he let them graze in an open plain, and they got surrounded by the Mexicans. This led to a bloody battle, and in only a day the Texians surrendered.
