    Battle of Gonzales
    The Battle of Gonzales took place on October 2, 1835. Santa Anna had dispatched Colonel U and his men to retrieve a cannon that had been given to Texans to protect themselves from Native Americans. The Texans had previously refused to give it up. Some gunfire was exchanged, but no one was killed. During the skirmish, a flag displaying, "Come and Take It" was flown to taunt the Mexicans.

    The Convention of 1836 took place on March 1 at Washington-On-The-Brazos. Here George Childress wrote the Texas Declaration of Independence along with delegates from all over the U.S. and even other countries. They modeled the Texas Declaration of Independence after the United States's. Little did the defenders of the Alamo know, but it was being written while they were at the Alamo!

    Battle of the Alamo
    The Mexican army led by Santa Anna had held the Texans under seige for 13 days. Finally, in the early hours of March 6, 1836, the Mexicans stormed the Alamo, surprising the sleeping Texans. The Mexican army climed the walls and had taken the Alamo and killed every last defender in only an hour and a half.

    After the defeat a the Alamo, Sam H. ordered Colonel Fannin and his men to retreat back from Goliad to Victoria. Fannin lets his men stop and rest in a prarie, when suddenly they were ambushed by General Urrea and his men.Fannin and his men held the Mexicans off for a day without food or water until finally on the morning of March 20, he surrendered.

    After being held at Fort Defiance for a few days, the Texans were marched out of the fort, thinking they were going to work or even being set free. The reluctant Colonel Urrea then carried out the cruel orders given by Santa Anna. He ordered his men to execute every man. Colonel Fannin was the last to be killed. He was shot in the face and his possesions were stolen.

    The Battle of san jacinto only lasted 18 minutes, but it ended the Texas Revolution! The Texans ambushed the Mexican army while they were sleeping, putting them into a cloud of confusion. The Texan "Twin Sisters" cannons bombarded the Mexican camp with random objects, just adding to the dismay.On top of everything, sam Houston blew up the bridge, leaving only one way of escaping, into the marsh. Santa Anna escaped, but was captured and forced to sign a treaty.
