Texas Joins the US
James Polk and the American people vote to let Texas join the US -
Texas secedes and Joins the Cofederacy
Texas seceded from the Federal Union following a 171 to 6 vote by the Secession Convention. Governor Sam Houston was one of a small minority opposed to secession. -
Battle at Galeston-Bayou City
Galveston was foced to surrender and then John B Mauger and tried to recapture and suceeded
