  • Austin Grant

    Stephen F. Austin's father Moses Austin was granted land from Mexico near the Colorado and Brazos river. They moved more than 300 families to this land.
  • Mexican Independence

    Mexico makes a constitution as well as a republican goverment, but the constitution failed to explain the rights of the people in the republic, including Texas.
  • Austin Imprisoned

    As more and more anglos started to come to Mexico, a demand for Texas to seperate from a region of Mexico and become its own region. Stephen F. Austin, the colonizer of the white people in Texas, went to propose this idea with the president, Santa Ana. Santa Ana refused this proposal and Austin was imprisoned sparking rebellion from the Texans.

    The Mexicans want their cannon back but the Texans refuse and fire at the Mexicans instead igniting the war.
  • Battle At Alamo

    The Texans held down an old mission called the alamo and were beaten brutally. In the end the losses were 189 Texans and 1600 Mexicans. Even though they lost, they put up a fight.
  • Runaway Scrape Begins

    The runaway Scrape was a period between the fall of the Alamo and the end of the battle of San Jaciento. After the battle of the alamo Santa Ana seemed unstoppable, and people were afraid.
  • Massacre at Goliad

    Outnumbered the Teaxans surrendered goliad to the mexicans and they were taken as captives. Santa Ana the leader of the Mexican army later slaughtered all of them.
  • Battle at San Jacinto

    After retreating from the battle of the Alamo, the Texans were ready to fight again. The battle took place at Buffulo Bayou close to the San Jacinto River. The Texans had an army of about 700 men and the Mexicans had an army of about 1,500. The Texans won the battle shouting "remember the Alamo!" and "Remember Goliad!"

    Texas secedes to Confederacy
    The Slave owners in the south of the United States were angry because The Northern part of the United States was going to abolish slavery. Texas being in the south was goign to fight for their rights and joined the Confederacy fighting to secede from the U.S.
  • Battle of Galveston- the Bayou City

    During the civil war the union takes Galveston. Later in the war a battle takes place to take back Galveston. They were vastle outnumbered but they still were victorious.
