    Christopher Columbus was the first European to sail across the ocean. It was the beginning of a new era,European exploration. He wanted to find a faster route to Asia so in 1462 he set sail.many people believed he landed in America but he acculy landed in San Salvador when he got there he started the Colombian exchange which is the transfer of plants, animals, and diseases between the Americas,Europe Africa, and Asia.

    Piñada
    Piñada was the first to map the Texas gulf coast in 1519. He sailed from Jamaica to the Gulf of Mexico. He was to explore the land between Florida and Mexico. They decided to establish a colony. So he sent the ships back for more supplies. When the ships returned they saw all the settlers were killed in American Indian attacks. Still no evidence exists that piñeda entered Texas
