    This was the most important port left to capture in Texas, so if the Union won (they didn’t) the Confederacy would not have supplies in Texas. Though, the Confederates won. The Confederates had control of the port for the rest of the war. The Confederates could still be shipped supplies from other places, and would not be completely vulnerable,

  • Battle of Sabine Pass

    The narrow channel of Sabine Pass was crucial to the Confederates for gaining supplies. The Confederates managed to fend off the Union. The Confederates would have a key shipping passage to their army, so they could be prepared for a battle.

  • Battle of Palmito Ranch

    The outcome was a Confederate Victory, with 117 Union casualties and only 6 Confederate casualties.This was the last land battle of the Civil War, ending in a Confederate victory, boosting their spirits. This battle was fought on Confederate soil, meaning that they had reinforcements and backup ready.
