In 356 BC, a young Ephesian named Herostratus set fire to the wooden roof of the building and he managed to burn the structure down to the ground. -

In 262 AD, The city was invaded by the Goths, looting tribes from the north. In that process, the temple was demolished, and it’s treasure raided.
