Named President when McKinley was Assassinated

Sep 21, 1901

After President McKinley was assassinated, Theodore Roosevelt was named President at the age of 42 which made him the youngest president to take office until Kennedy.

Energy crisis

May 23, 1902

Teddy Roosevelt got in trouble when he angered the oil tycoon John D. Rockefeller. This sent the nation into a panic and only made his job harder.

Elkins act

Feb 13, 1903

This was a law passed that amended the interstate commerce act of 1887.

Pelican Island, Florida, named first national wildlife refuge

Mar 14, 1903

In 1903 Theodore Roosevelt created the first national wildlife refuge in Florida called Pelican Island. This was to protect brown pelicans from hunters.

Passage of Pure Food and Drug Act

Jan 26, 1906

This act made it harder for producers to sneak products into medicine and goods that isn't supposed to be there. Like cocaine in coke.

Devils tower,Wyoming, named 1st national monument

This is the first National park created in America. Teddy Roosevelt was the main person who put this action into place.

Leaves presidency, visits Africa

Mar 23, 1909

Roosevelt left the U.S to go to Africa. He went on many expeditions including expeditions in Sudan, the Belgian Congo, and British East Africa.
