Theodore Roosevelt was born on 27 October 1858, he was born in New York, New York. He went on to become the 26th President of the United States of America and also created the Bull Moose Party. -
Energy Crisis
President Roosevelt was very passionate about wildlife and loved to be in the wilderness, he regularly hunted. But this angered some Roosevelt supporters because they thought it was hypocritical for a President to like hunting and care about the wilderness and hunt. These created riots which damaged a lot of forests. -

Elkins Act
This law amended the Interstate Commerce Act of 1887. This act authorized the Interstate Commerce Commission (ICC) to impose heavy fines on railroads. The Elkins Act was passed on 19 February 1903. -
Pelican Island
Theodore Roosevelt established Pelican Island in the Indian River Lagoon as the first federal bird reservation. This began the National Wildlife Refuge System. Paul Krogoel was the first Warden on this island. (See picture.) -
Winning His First Full Term
After his first term as President, he wanted to run again in the 1904 election. He won against Alton B. Parker. During this election, Teddy Roosevelt still ran as a Republican. -
Yosemite Under Federal Control
Theodore Roosevelt signed the American Antiquities Act of 1906 that would transfer the Yosemite Valley & the Mariposa Grove back under federal protection and control. 10 years later, the National Park Service forms in 1916. Thanks to Theodore Roosevelt, the Yosemite now had its own agency to be protected. -
Passage of Pure Food & Drug Act
This act prohibited the sales of misbranded foods and drugs in interstate commerce, this laid a foundation for the nation's first consumer protection agency. This created the Food and Drug Administration, now known as the FDA. -
Devil's Tower, Wyoming
Claimed on 24 September 1906, By the authority of the Antiquities Act, President Roosevelt proclaims Devils Tower in Wyoming to be a national monument. -
Safari in Africa
After President Taft's inauguration, Theodore Roosevelt wanted to collect animals for specimens for the Smithsonian Institution. He and his son hunted over 500 animals in Africa. The animals included were: Lions, Elephants, and Rhinos. -
Theodore Roosevelt & the Bull Moose Party
Theodore Roosevelt founded the Bull Moose Party or the Progressive Party. He founded this after he lost the nomination in the Republican Party, he lost to William Howard. The Bull Moose Party was the only 3rd party to win Second Place in the Presidential Elections.
