TR the Rough Rider at San Juan Hill
In April of 1898, war broke with spain while TR was serving as Assistant Secretary to the Navy. He quit his position, and formed a regiment of volunteers known as ¨The Rough Riders¨. They arrived in cuba to storn San Juan Hill. -
TR 1st time named President
After the assasination of President McKinley, Roosevelt assumed the presidency at the age of 42. He was the youngest president ever to have that title. -
National Reclamation Act
President Roosevelt signed the National Reclamation Act which allowed the federal government to raise money for irrigation projects that expanded agriculture on arid lands by selling public lands. -
Coal Strike
Teddy Roosevelt intervened and tried to convince the union to end the strike with a promise to create a commision to investigate the causes of the strike and to try and come up with a solution. -
Elkins Act
The Elkins Act was passed to artificially lower shipping prices for businesses. It didn´t allow railroad companies to give rebates to businesses that were shipping large quantities. -
TR and the Northern Securities Case
The Northern Securities Case established President Roosevelts reputation as a ¨trust buster¨. The Supreme Court ruled 5-4 against the stockholders of the Great Northern and Northern Pacific railroad companies. -

TR won his first full term as president against Alton B. Parker. -
Yosemite under Federal Control
Roosevelt signs the American Antiquities Act of 1906 that returns the Yosemite Valley and the Mariposa Grove back under federal protection and control. -
Meat Inspection Act
The Meat Inspection Act was created in order to make sure that the meat we were being sold was sanitary and true to its advertising. -
Passage of Pure Food and Drug Act
The Pure Food and Drug act was signed by president Theodore Roosevelt in order to make sure that people knew exactly what they were eating or what they were taking. This is so that people know exactly what they are putting in their body. The publishing of ¨The Jungle¨ is what brought light to the issue of non-truthful advertising. -
Leaves Presidency, Visits Africa
TR makes the decision to leave his presidency and go on an expedition in africa. During his time in Africa, he participated in hunting and he led an expedition for the Smithsonian´s New Natural History Museum. -
TR Runs for presidency in Bull-Moose Party
When TR returned to America and saw how Taft was runnning things, he did not agree with his methods and couldn´t let him become president again. So he decided to run against him but the rebublican party nominated Taft, so Roosevelt created a new party known as the Bull Moose Party. They basically split up the Republican Party. Therefore, splitting up the votes and handing the presidency over to the democratic party.
