Energy Crisis
In the Coal Strike of 1902, thousands of miners went on strike and left their jobs due to labor rights and wages. This caused a threat to shutdown the coal mines, which would later create an energy crisis. Elkins Act Passed
Teddy Roosevelt supported the Elkins Act of 1903 which gave the federal courts power to end rate discrimination. Pelican Island, Florida named first national wildlife refuge

Passage of Pure Food And Drug Act
President Theodore Roosevelt showed his progressiveness by ensuring the passage of the Meat Inspection Act of 1906, this was followed by the Pure Food and Drug Act, passed in 1906. Leaves presidency to visit Africa
After Theodore Roosevelt left presidency in 1909, Roosevelt embarked an epic 11-month, 2,500-mile safari through British East Africa and Anglo-Egyptian Sudan, killing over 11.000 animals including elephants, rhinos and hippos.
