    WWW.....
    The world wide web was realized in 1990 by Tim Berners-Lee. It allows the freeflow of information to anyone, anywhere in the world without restriction or censorship. It was truly the beginning of the information age explosion.
  • The Hubble Space Telescope

    The Hubble Space Telescope
    In 1990 the Hubble Space Telescope was launched into space by NASA, though it was originally scheduled to launch back in 1983. When it got up into space, it needed repairs which weren't complete until 1993. However, the Hubble Space Telescope was able to then produce the best images of outter space that mankind had ever seen; expanding our understanding of the universe.
  • GPS

    GPS
    GPS was finally completely up and running in 1995, using satalites to bounce signals and triangulate positions on the ground with an accuracy of no more than 20 feet from where you actually were. This technology has been used to save lives, find places easier, and even track down pets.
  • Google is Born!

    Google is Born!
    Arguably the most influencial advent of the 1990's, Google was realized in 1996 by college undergraduates Larry Page & Sergey Brin. Search engines, devices like Google Assistant, the Android phone system, Chrome browser, Chromecast, and countless other contributions have since been made by google.
  • USB Ports

    USB Ports
    USB ports were invented and released in 1996. First it was USB-A, USB-B, USB 3.0, USB mini, USB micro, USB-C, & USB Micro B. Even such a simplistic tech has had its own evolution and in the information age made that access just that bit more smoother and faster than it was before. Not to mention lighting charging for cell phones!
  • DVDs

    DVDs
    DVDs were finally released to the public in 1996 after all of the major players in asia got together and agreed to decide on a single format this new technology or they wouldn't produce it at all. This stalled things until 1996. Since they DVD's have evolved into amazing data storage devices not just for movies, but for music, home videos, and many other things, including just straight data & files.
  • Toyota Prius

    Toyota Prius
    The Toyota Prius has been around since 1997, though most people don't remember it that way. The original Prius was smaller and was only a 4 door, without no hatchback; those didn't come around until the much more recognizable 2003 version. But that is just one example of the Prius' own evolution to being a more and more eco-friendly vehicle, not to mention inspiring other car companies to move toward more environmentally friendly vehicles.
  • Netflix

    Netflix
    Netflix got its start in 1997 when it first started renting as many DVDs in a month as you'd like, 2 at a time, for a flat rate. Now? Netflix was one of the saviors of the COVID crisis helping to keep people indoors and away from spreading COVID to everyone they love. Netflix is a silent hero in that regard... and a silent killer to couch potatoes everywhere. Can't win them all!
