In 1990, Thomas Knoll and John Knoll created the first big photo editing program called Adobe Photoshop. They noticed how there was a lack of any photo editing computer programs so they decided to develop their own. After working on it for a while, they got funded by Adobe to finish their product and it was finally released in early 1990 allowing easy access to photo editing programs. -
1990- The World Wide Web
In 1990, the World Wide Web was created by Sir Tim-Berners Lee, it fascinated so many people and drew many people in. It provided any user, early access to internet services and email. By 1996, the World Wide Web had about 5 million users. -
1991- Linux Operating System
In 1991, Linus Torvalds developed the Linux operating system. He had only the vision of creating an operating system but ended up creating one of the biggest platforms on the internet for companies like Google, Facebook, and Amazon. -
1992- Text Messages
In 1992, the first text message was sent, this changed the way people were able to communicate with each other making it very accessible and easy. The text message was invented by Neil Papworth, he sent the first message to a friend, saying “Merry Christmas”. -
1998- Google
In 1996, Larry Page and Sergey Brin wrote a program for a search engine they were creating. In 1997, they were able to register the name google.com and they continued to improve their program. It was fully considered a corporation in 1998.
