The invention of the web browser meant that the internet could be accessed from various devices and operating systems. The invention of the first web browser led to an influx of new technology that has enriched and connected the world in an immeasurable way. -
First Smart Phones Released for Purchase
Frank Canova was the lead architect and inventor of the smartphone. Called the IBM Simon Personal Communicator, it was a handheld, touchscreen PDA designed by International Business Machines. (Although the term "smartphone" was not created until 1995). With Simon's features and capabilities, it is now known as the first true smartphone. While the first version of the smartphone is vastly different from what we use today, its current rendition is indispensable in today's world. -
Creation of Amazon
In July 1995, Amazon officially opened for business as an online bookshop. Within one month of opening, it managed to sell books to 50 states and other countries worldwide. Amazon has since branched out from books and now sells pretty much everything under the sun. Amazon is still making breakthroughs in the technological world and continues to be the largest U.S. e-commerce market. I personally use Amazon as one of my main sources of shopping and can't imagine a life without it. -

In 1997, Vic Hayes (who is often called the "father of wi-fi") was the head of the committee that introduced the international standard for wireless networking 1997. Now the use of wi-fi has become the norm for the public throughout the world. Wi-Fi has become a standard in technology use and is a staple in the majority of U.S. companies and homes and has expanded the world's ability to access information and technology. -
Launch of Google
Google was officially launched in 1998 by Larry Page and Sergey Brin. Google Search has become the most used web-based search engine. Google Search has made information readily available to the world for over twenty years and has since expanded to include more indispensable technology along with its web-based search engine.
