First Prototype of Desktop Calculators
In 1954 the first prototype desktop calculator was invented. You may think it was small, but it most certainly was not. It was housed in several cabinets I read, and was the first calculating machine to use solid-state transistors. -
ARPANET
ARPANET caused a huge changing point in the development of computers. It was an experimental computer network that was used and was the forerunner of the internet. In the long run it ended in 1990 and became the internet. -
First E-mail Was Sent
The first email was sent in 1971. Ray Tomlinson created the first ever electronic mail box, first by creating ARPANET's networked email system. -
IBM Launches a PC
1981, IBM launched the first ever PC. This was most certainly a game changer. It was such a huge thing since this was the first ever personal computer that was practical and useful for everyone. -
Google Was Founded
Google was founded by Larry Page and Sergey Brin who were still in college at the time. Originally it was going to be named "googol" which from what I read was a mathematical term for the number one followed by zeros. It went from 500k searches per day, to 3 billion per day by the end of 2011.
