Movies Through The Years

  • Coolest Thing I Ever Won

    Coolest Thing I Ever Won
When I was 3, I got entered into a contest because I had all my immunizations, and actually won a TV! There was no remote and it didn't hook up to any cable. but I could watch VHS tapes on it.
  • VHS

    VHS
VHS tapes were all the rage, I'm pretty sure everyone had a shelf or cabinet in their house that looked like this.
  • VHS Rewinder

    VHS Rewinder
I have 3 older brothers, and there were plenty of fights that broke out from someone not rewinding a movie after they were done watching it. Now you'd have to wait what seemed like forever to rewind the tape before you could watch your movie.
  • Combined VHS & DVD Player

    Combined VHS & DVD Player
We got one of these for Easter one year, and it felt like the coolest thing ever to now be able to have a combined DVD and VHS player, instead of two different consoles.
  • Portable DVD player

    Portable DVD player
Life in the car got 1000 times better when you could watch a movie on a long road trip, which seemed like all the time with my family. Bonus points if you remembered headphones so you could actually hear your movie.
  • In Car Entertainment

    In Car Entertainment
I still remember the day we dropped off my mom's car to have a DVD player installed in the ceiling so the whole family could watch movies, and even TV if you had good enough reception (which was almost never, but it was super cool when you did).
  • Movies Made Easier

    Movies Made Easier
I got an iPod touch for Christmas in 2009, and the first thing I was so excited to do was upload a movie to watch on that tiny screen. I could only have one movie on there at a time, but it still felt like the coolest thing ever.
  • First of Many iPhone's

    First of Many iPhone's
Finally getting an iPhone meant I could now stream crappy YouTube versions of movies I wanted to watch, as long as I was connected to the internet. Using data was like a sin to me, because I'd have to pay my parents if I ever used the internet when I wasn't on WiFi. Now I've had too many iPhone's over the years to keep track of and have unlimited data to stream anytime.
  • First iPad

    First iPad
After I got my first iPad, I could finally watch movies on a bigger screen, and still be able to use my phone to text or call.
  • Disney+ is Life

    Disney+ is Life
Now I almost exclusively use Disney+ to watch movies, mostly at the request of my 3 year old. It's easy to stream movies from anywhere, or download movies on to my iPad. I still use other streaming services, but Disney+ is for sure the most used at our house.
