  • Apple iPod

    Although windows XP and OS X were also released in 2001, let's focus on the iPod. The iPod hit the ground running because it was at this time that people could carry their entire music collection with them in their pocket. Even though things like MP3 players had already existed, the company-promoted invention really shaped the way society engaged with technology and music.
  • Facebook

    The social media platform, created by Mark Zuckerberg in 2004, changed the way people locate and interact with each other digitally. It helped people connect and communicate from all different parts of the world.
  • YouTube

    YouTube became a fast-growing, quick-accessing video distribution and streaming platform in 2005. According to Google, the owners of youtube, "more 18 to 49 year olds watch YouTube video on mobile than any broadcast network" (David Gewirtz, 2018)
  • iPhone

    When the product first hit the market, it combined the PC, music, landline, and cell phone products into one. The ability to purchase and download apps from a digital store at the touch of a button was an unprecedented feat. Steve Jobs and his invention forever changed the world.
  • Fitbit Tracker

    The Fitbit Healthcare Tracker was first released in 2009 and began to shape the world to acknowledge and act upon personalized fitness goals and to track progress made. It had a well lasting battery life, a way to digitally connect with one's smart phone, and on top of that, no subscriptions and the fees that came with it.
