Space shuttle Columbia
On April 12, 1981 NASA sent their space shuttle Columbia on its very first mission named "STS-1". This was just one of almost 30 missions this shuttle completed before being disenegrated in 2003.
NASA was able to learn a great deal from these missions not only about space, but also how to improve our own technology. Overall society gained a lot of new information thanks to this shuttle. -

Released by Sony in 1983 the Betamovie BMC-100 wasa the first ever commercial camcorder. For the first time ever people were able to shoot their own videos without needing tv level equipment. It is astonishing the impact this has had today if you think about just the pure amount of online videos there are now. -
Motorola Dynatac 8000
Made by Motorola, this product was the very first ever produced cellphone. For the first time ever people had access to a portable phone they could use anywhere. Although they were extremely heavy and had very short battery lives this invention blew up very quickly. Almost instantly there was a wait list for these as people couldn't wait to get there hands on one. This device completely changed technology for us and could be easily cited the one of the most significant inventions to date. -
The Apple Macintosh
The Apple Macintosh was created in 1984 and it was an astonishing invention at the time. The Macintosh was one of the world's first commercially available computer that does not solely rely on a text based interface. It is needless to say that this invention left a mark on society as we still have Apple Mac computers to this day
