This was created by Sony and Philips and has greatly impacted our lives today, Without this we would never have both the systems and the music we have now. The very first album to be released on this was "Billy Joel's 52nd Street", it goes without saying the impact Billy Joel had and this compact disk played a great role in his success.

    Space shuttle Columbia
    On April 12, 1981 NASA sent their space shuttle Columbia on its very first mission named "STS-1". This was just one of almost 30 missions this shuttle completed before being disenegrated in 2003.
    NASA was able to learn a great deal from these missions not only about space, but also how to improve our own technology. Overall society gained a lot of new information thanks to this shuttle.

It is astonishing the impact this has had today if you think about just the pure amount of online videos there are now.

    Made by Motorola, this product was the very first ever produced cellphone. For the first time ever people had access to a portable phone they could use anywhere. Although they were extremely heavy and had very short battery lives this invention blew up very quickly. Almost instantly there was a wait list for these as people couldn't wait to get there hands on one. This device completely changed technology for us and could be easily cited the one of the most significant inventions to date.
