Linux was introduced by Linus Torvalds in 1991 as a free to use operating system. It was only available for AT-harddisks but eventually was made to support a GUI at which point it became very prevalent. -
Amazon
Jeff Bezos founded Amazon as an online bookstore. It began back in 1994 as a series of other names which he fortunately chose not to build his business with. It is now the largest e-commerce business in the world. It's first sales were in 1995, and within 2 months were into 5 figure sales. They went public in 1997 at $18/share. -
Video Game graphics
In the 1990s, the first consoles were coming out and with them a plethora of 144hp resolution games. It was incredible how quickly the consumers latched on and the industry was able to continue growing and improving exponentially. This is Final Fantasy VII. VII!!!!! How awful the first few must have been! Motion tracking technology became an important component of video game creation. The first instance of mocap can be dated back to 1915! -
IBM RS600
The IBM RS600 was originally meant to run multiple systems, but ended up only using Linux. It beat the world champion chess player, Garry Kasparov, in 1997 and was running IBM.com in 1998. -
Apple Airport
Apple Airport was the first attempt at a wireless modem. It did have a ethernet port, but was supposed to cast the signal throughout the building. It looks horrendous, but it was a piece of the pavement for Apple today.
