  • IBM 9345 Hard Disk Drive

    The first hard disk drive to use magneto-resistive heads. It had an edge over its competitors since it could store the bits more densely. "Sawmill" was the codename given to it.
  • JPEG

    The final version of JPEG was released. It had been in the works since 1986. 1992 was the year the group determined the rules set for the image compression.
  • PDF

    Adobe systems created and released the PDF format. It has created a universal file format to save the layout of documents while they are being shared between systems, software, and printers.
  • CompactFlash

    The CompactFlash was put out by SanDisk and quickly became the preferred method for storage. It was popular in digital cameras.
  • WiFi

    This was the year that WiFi was now being available in personal homes. Many large companies created products that allowed for cable-free internet connections anywhere. including homes, works, and even cafes.
