  • Alan Turing presents his ideas which would be the base for the modern computer’s concept.

In 1936 Alan Turing, (an English scientist mathematician) invented the Turing machine, a concept capable of computing anything computable. His automatic machine and computing theory proved general properties of computing as a whole and his ideas are the foundation of modern automation theory. The machine design was rather simple but able to handle any computer algorithm. The machine manipulates a set of symbols on a tape according to a set of rules.
  • Atanasoff creates a computer capable of solving 29 equations simultaneously, storing information.

The Atanasoff-Berry computer, invented in 1941 by Atanasoff and one of his students, it was the first computer to be able to store information in a main memory unit and was capable of 29 equations simultaneously. It was revolutionary for things like binary arithmetic and electronic switching, it didn’t get much credit due to the ENIAC. The ABC wasn't programmable or turing-complete when the ENIAC capable of these things had already been built. The ABC was invented at the Lowa State College.
  • Microsoft

In 1975 the two “computer geeks” Paul Allen and Bill Gates formed their own software company, Microsoft in New Mexico, United States. This was after they were very successful in their endeavor to write software for the Altair which was the so called first minicomputer and could compete with commercial models using the new BASIC programming language.
