  • Charles Babbage

    Charles Babbage
Charles Babbage (1791-1871) was a British mathematician. He came up with the idea of the computer in the 1830s. He called his machine the Analytical Engine but the technology back then wasn't good enough for him to actually build it. It took about a hundred years until the necessary technology was available to build it. Even though it was never completed, the Analytical Engine would have many of the basic elements of the present-day computer.
  • Ada Lovelace

    Ada Lovelace
Ada Lovelace (1815-1852) was a mathematician. Charles Babbage was her associate and they worked together to develop his machine the "Difference Engine". Year 1843 she wrote an algorithm for the mechanical computer and predicted the possibilities of computers as problem solvers and to calculate formulas. So Ada Lovelace became the first computer programmer ever.
  • Alan Turing

    Alan Turing
Alan Turing (1912-1954) was a mathematician and computer scientist. He invented the Turing machine. It was a hypothetical computing device. The machine is today considered to be one of the foundational models of computer science. He also developed a machine called the Bombe during World War II. It helped break the German Enigma code so he could read messages about the enemy military operations. Turing is by some considered the hero of World War II

He made many contributions to the computing industry. He had an own research laboratory where he worked on inventing and perfecting devices like the computer mouse and hypermedia (which is linking things such as text, audio, and images etc in one single document). He also improved different input devices.

  • Larry Page

    Larry Page
Larry Page is the co-founder of Google. He came up with the idea of a WWW search engine that is called PageRank. It is an algorithm that ranks web pages in Google search's engine results. It works by ranking links and finding out how important they are by counting how often they have been linked by other pages.
