The founding of Nvidia dates back to 1993 when Jensen Huang, a Taiwanese-American electrical engineer founded the company. Nvidia holds around 80% of the global market share in GPU chips as of 2023. Nvidia is regarded as the standard for GPUs in the world and their technology backs this standing. Nvidia's influence in the GPU sector has allowed the progress of modern video gaming to take leaps and bounds over the years. This led to some of the most innovative games made throughout the years. -
The Game Boy Color
Nintendo has been a well known console developer for a long time, but one particular installation into their line up of gaming consoles in particular changed the world in my opinion. This invention was the Game Boy Color. This, to me, is the pinnacle of all handheld gaming devices as it is iconic as being the best colorized handheld system ever released to the public. Released in 1998, this console paved the way for all future handheld gaming consoles by being the gold standard of its era. -
Runescape 2 (Now known as Old School Runescape)
Andrew Gower, along with his brother Paul Gower, the developers of Runescape, and founders of Jagex games, released a sequel to the original Runescape MMORPG game that led to many hours of my life being sat at a computer "grinding" levels and doing quests in game. Runescape 2 was a huge upgrade to the original Runescape as it had an updated combat system, the addition of features such as improved sound and music and a faster and more streamlined 3D engine. -
YouTube
Founded by Chard Hurley, Steve Chen, and Jawed Karim, three former PayPal employees, YouTube quickly became an entertainment mega entity. YouTube's early days of viral videos with iconic uploads to the site such as "NumaNuma" and "Charlie Bit My Finger" are some of the earliest viral video memories the world fell in love with. YouTube now sustains its dominance in the entertainment market and allows many creators the opportunity to release their own content and make money off their shared media. -
The iPhone
Officially announced by Apple Inc in January 2007, this phone completely changed the game regarding what the world considered the standard of not only smart phones, but phone design as a whole. Officially released in the US on June 29, 2007, the iPhone quickly became the most popular phone on the market. Creator of the iPhone, Steve Jobs, helped to redefine what a phone should be, and this standard that was revolutionary.
