  • Photoshop was invented

    Photoshop was invented
    The first image editing program to be released. It was created by John and Thomas Knoll who were brothers. It would eventually become the most popular software program that Adobe had ever created. It changed the way we viewed photos and images and is still very popular 30+ years later.
  • Jpeg was introduced

    Jpeg was introduced
    Starting in 1886 and finishing in 1992 a group of diffrent organtizionts were working on a standardized set of standards for digital images. The JPEG or JPG is now one of the most common image/file formats. It is the standard that most cameras use and is now household knowledge.
  • Apple releases the Newton line

    Apple releases the Newton line
    Apple president John Scully starts working on a new handheld computer device. He called it a personal data assistant and it was the first of its kind to offer handwriting recognition/software. Although it was not very successful and stopped production a few years later, it paved the path to the iPads we know today.
  • IBM releases the thinkpad

    IBM releases the thinkpad
    By 1995 John Kardis had released his IMB thinkpad 701c which revolutionized the laptop game. It posted a then very incredible 10.4 inch display as well as a "butterfly keyboard" which expanded past the screen giving users more room to type. It was the most selling laptop for a few years until a different laptop was released with a bigger screen and keypad.
  • Japanese Company releases first phone with a Camera

    Japanese Company releases first phone with  a Camera
    Bringing in the new decade a Japanese company called softbank released the first ever camera on a phone. The J-SHo4 was the first of its kind. It had max resolution of 0.11 megapixels and boasted a then very impressive 256 color display. This revolutionized the phone business and started what became known as a staple for all phones in the future. It even led to many countries passing laws regulating the use of cameras on phones.
