Technological Advancement in the 1990's

  • Adobe Photoshop Created

    In 1990, two brothers Thomas and John Knoll noticed the lack of editing options available on computers. They partnered up to code something themselves. They gained attention from Adobe and with their investment were then able to release Photoshop 1.0 in February 1990.
  • The Release of Nokia 1011

    In 1994 Nokia came out with their first ever cell phone, the Nokia 1011. The device changed how everyone viewed cellphones. Most mobile phones at the time were bigger and more difficult to carry around, leading the appeal to the small and convenient Nokia 1011.
  • Sony PlayStation Release

    In 1995, Sony released the PlayStation to the US which was an instant hit. The gaming consule was so popular and was considered Sony's most important product since the Walkman.
  • The Release of DVD's

    DVD's were released to the world in 1996 starting a replacement for VHS. Not one person or company can be credited with the creation of the DVD since several tech companies created variations and each came to an agreement on one format.
  • The Creation of Google

    Larry Page and Sergey Brin were attending Stanford University in 1996 when they started to work on a search engine called Backrub. After the success of the first trial, both cam together to create Google.com in 1997. They continued to develope the search engine, and later became a company in 1998.
