Unix is a multitasking, multi-user computer operating system. With the exception of Microsoft Windows, all current major operating systems have some kind of Unix as a base. Unix was developed in bell labs. -

The Internet was originally created for government purposes. This was originally named the ARPANET. Soon, this network was available for commercial and personal use for all citizens. People could net "surf the web" until much later whan the world wide web was conjured. -
Cell Phone: Cell Phone is Created
John F. Mitchell and Martin Cooper made the first public cell phone. This phone was cordless, but rather bulky compare to today's phones. However, back then, it was very convenient. This phone was very simple and didn't do much except for make phone calls. -
MS Office Suite: Microsoft Word
Microsoft Word is a word processor designed for composing and formatting documents. -

Internet: World Wide Web Created
Tim Berners-Lee created the World Wide Web utilizing codes called HTML. He wanted to merge the use of hypertext and the internet. He also wanted to be clear that the internet and the World Wide Web are not the same thing. The internet is a system of interconnected computers, but the World Wide Web is a feature which is available on the internet. -

PowerPoint presentations consist of a number of individual pages. They make it simpler to display information is an eye-appealing and organized manner. -

File sharing really took off in the 1990s, when the MPEG-1 Audio Layer 3 (MP3) format made it possible for music files to be compressed to a tenth, or less, of their original size, while retaining sound quality close to that of the original source. People began sharing files and the need to look into piracy arised. -

A cell phone is defined as a mobile phone with a more advanced computing capability. It can include several features such as an internet browser, GPS Systems, and cameras.
The first smartphone which was created was an IBM prototype.
Then in 1996, Nokia came out with their own smartphone which was a great hit. A few years later, BlackBerry designed their BlackBerry OS. -

Another one of my top inventions would be the company Google, because it a vital resource in my life today. Google has so many branches in today's world, such as a wonderful search engine, and an Android system for cell phones. This company was invented by Larry Page and Sergey Brin while they were taking classes at Stanford University. -

Salesforce.com began the idea of delicering applications by using a simple website. This company was founded in March 1999 by former Oracle executives Marc Benioff, Parker Harris, Dave Moellenhoff, and Frank Dominguez. -

The first version released was Mac OS X Server 1.0 in 1999, and a desktop version. Ever since, the following versions are named afte buig cats. OS X is based upon the Mach kernel. -

Wifi is probably the one thing that has changed the world's way of veiwing technology. It can let you connect to the internet in many more places than only when connected with a cord. This is because it uses radio waves to communicate over the internet. Wifi was originally going to be named IEEE 802.11b Direct Sequence. -

- One of the inventions that I am most grateful for is texting. The first text messaging sevice in the United States was provided by Omnipoint Communications, the first GSM carrier in America.

3G stands for third generation and is veiwed as the third generation of mobile communications. NTT DoCoMo launched the first commercial 3G network and it was in Asia. The first European pre-commercial network was an UMTS network.
The first commercial United States 3G network was by Monet Mobile Networks. -
Cloud Computing: Amazon services
Amazon began to provide cloud based services which included storage and computation. This was another step in the development of Cloud Coputing and many people welcomed this idea. -
Cell Phones: Cameras in cellphones.
Cellphones cameras were available. Some examples are the Nokia 7650 and the Sanyo SPC-5300. -
Top 10: Social Networking
Another important invention I am thankful for is social networking. Many of these early communities focused on bringing people together to interact with each other through chat rooms, and encouraged users to share personal information and ideas via personal webpages by providing easy-to-use publishing tools and free or inexpensive webspace. Some communities - such as Classmates.com - took a different approach by simply having people link to each other via email addresses. -
Cell Phones: Blackberry's phone inventions.
Blackberry's new phone included email, texting, and a web browser. This phone made many jobs easier for people, and everything could be done using the same device. It also featured a full QWERTY keybard for typing. -
Web 2.0: Skype
Skype was founded in 2003 by Janus Friis. This changed the way online communication works. This allows people to chat online while using a webcam to see the person who is talking opposite of them. -

Facebook was invented by Marc Zuckerburg. This is a social networking site which allows people to know what is going on with friends and family. -

- Youtube can be veiwed as just another video site, however the way it has changed the world is unbelieveable. Many new talents would have never been discovered. this company is now owned by Google Inc. It is a site where you can post, comment, view, and like videos.

The Apple App Store is a digital application distribution platform for iOS developed and maintained by Apple Inc. The service allows users to browse and download applications that were developed with Apple's iOS. The apps can be downloaded directly to an iOS device, or onto a personal computer using iTunes. -

Windows 7 is the latest release of Microsoft Windows, a series of operating systems produced by Microsoft for use on personal computers, including home and business desktops. This has many new and improved features. -

Microsoft Windows released Windows. This was and improved version of the previous Windows operating systems. Some of the new features included in Windows 7 are advancements in touch, speech, and handwriting recognition, support for virtual hard disks, support for additional file formats, improved performance on multi-core processors, improved boot performance, and kernel improvements. -

In 2011, Version 3.o of the Linux Kernal was released. Linux is an operating system very much like Unix. However, it has not gained as much popularity as Unix. -

The Jelly Bean is the newest version of the Android operating system. The first devices to run Android 4.2 were LG's Nexus 4 and Samsung's Nexus 10. -

OS X is the newest of Apple Inc.'s Mac OS line of operating systems. The newest version is the Mountain Lion. It was just released this year (2013). -

Apple announced iOS 7 at its annual WWDC event. This is their newest and most improved versions o iOS. The devices that iOS 7 will support are the iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPod Touch 5, iPad 2, iPad 3, and the iPad Mini.
