  • AOL Mailer Discs

    AOL Mailer Discs
In 1993, AOL begins sending out the mailer discs many of us are familiar with. This was a marketing campaign for their internet service - America Online. I feel like we did not have their service right away, I recall getting kicked off the free version!
  • VCR players ( for all homes)

VCR players ( for all homes)
VCR players started to become more accessible in the 1980s. I believe Betamax and VCR probably were two competitors, and VCR won in the end. By mid 1990-s VHS tapes and VCRs were both more common in homes.

The company had been making these tools already for 10 or so years, but this is the one that is in all high school and college hands. The same model is still in use today.

    T-Mobile Sidekick II

Then the version with the colorful trackball came out...I was definitely an obssesed teen.
  • Kindle is invented

    Kindle is invented
The Kindle ( and Nook) e-reader was a crucial part of my young adult life. I needed something to use, that was lighter and more mobile. It costs less than tablets, which at the time, were still 1000$ for anything useful. The Kindle launched in 2007. I did not look at e-readers until a year or 2 later, for some reason the Nook ads hit me faster.
