  • Slave Rebellion

    Several dozen slaves in New York, with one of the highest slave populations at the time, started a riot. Starting many fires and protests in New York City. 27 slaves were captured and executed, 5 committed suicide, and many laws were crated and strictly enforced for free and enslaved African- Americans.
  • The Great Awakening

    The Great Awakening was a series of religious upturns. Caused by the mediocrity and lack of denominations in each colony. The attendance and enthusiasm being at an all time low was a big cause of this movement. 1730-1740
  • Stono Rebellion

    A group of enraged slaves gathered and over took a store, Stono, with stolen weapons, and killed the store owners. The group wet on a rampage burning 6 plantations down and killing about 2 dozen whites. While trying to escape to Spanish Florida, they were caught and executed.
  • Naturalization Act

    An act passed to let immigrants that migrated to America become British subjects if they can prove they lived there for 7 years, take oath of loyalty to the British empire, and are Protestant, with some exceptions for Jews.
  • Albany Plan of Union

    A failed attempt to unionize the colonies under a crown appointed president to run the colonies and prevent a war with France and their native allies.
  • The French and Indian War Begins

    Also called The Seven Years War started at rising tensions over the land east of the Mississippi River. Fought between The French and British, along with both of their native allies. The British came out with an unexpected victory.
  • Sugar Act

    The Sugar Act added a tax on sugar, molasses, and other imported goods from non- British Caribbean Colonies to the American colonies. And forbid importation of foreign rum. The act was passed by British Parliament
  • The Stamp Act

    The British Parliament put a tax on every printed piece of paper in the colonies with the goal in mind to pay for the British military.
  • The Quartering Act

    The British Parliament passed the policy of making colonists house and feed about 10,000 British soldiers in their homes. Parliament thought it was necessary for the colonists to help defend the land in some way.
  • Boston Massacre

    Angry colonists, enraged with the unfair taxes and policies put on them, started a fight with some British soldiers. 5 colonists died. This sent a wave of reformation to Parliament who repealed all Townsend acts except the tax on tea to keep some of their authority.
  • The Boston Tea Party

    The colonists were enraged with the British Parliament and their taxes to pay for their war ("taxation without representation") they protested by dumping 46 tons of tea into the Boston Harbor to show that they would not accept anymore tea with the tax on it.
  • The Declaration Independence

    The written declaration to the British that they want to be independent of British rule in the 13 colonies of America.
  • Battle of Trenton

    The first of many battles between The colonists and British. The colonists won led by General Washington. This victory and really all american victories were very surprising but proved Washington's abilities.
