Tech Inventions in the 2010s

  • Instagram

    Instagram
Instagram was created by Kevin Systrom and Mike Kriegar on 10/6/10. The idea of instagram was to share photos online for friends and family to see. I think one of the reasons that instagram got to where it is now is because it was very simple to use and it truely focused on one thing. Sharing pictures, short captions. After 4/9/12 when facebook bought Instagram, more features launched. Boomerang, new filters, videos, and multiphoto for example.
  • iPad

    iPad
Johnathan Ives and others from apple created and released the iPad on 4/3/2010. The iPad was a signature achievement from Apple. It brought the iPhone's touchscreen to a bigger display and allowed people to use apps and home displays in any orientation. As the first-gen tablet, the iPad was a technological pathway as other companies developed their own.
  • Minecraft

    Minecraft
Created by Markus Persson and released on 05/17/2009. He coded the game based on inspiration from other games. Dwarf Fortress allowed players to interact, dig caves, chop down trees, and complete tasks. Rollercoaster Tycoon allowed the player creativity, no matter how bizarre, you can create. Dungeon Keepers was a strategy game, the player digs cave passages and can populate them with monsters. Lastly, Infiniminer, the graphics of this game was the forerunner of Minecraft.
  • USB-C

    USB-C
The concept of the USB-C happened around 2013 but was released on 8/12/14. The creators were of 3 dozen companies, two of them being Google and Apple. In the middle of presenting lighter and thinner designs on their products, the companies wanted to design a port that was capable of providing data, charging, and display all in one.
  • TikTok

    TikTok
The creators of TikTok are Alex Zhu and Luyu Yang of Chinese tech giant Bytedance. Once named Musical.ly which allowed users to create and share 15 sec lip-sync videos, TikTok became much more. They created more content for users and followed an algorithm so liked and shared videos would appear more and more on the users For You page. Not only that but the app was reaching far out. The app is available in over 150 countries and in 75 languages
