Release of the first Ipod
The original iPod was released on October 23rd, 2001, by Steve Jobs and Tony Fadell, the inventors employed by Apple. This small device came with a 10-hour rechargable battery and only weighed 6.5 ounces. It could hold a total of 1000 songs at the time, which revolutionized the way we listened to music forever. Later on, the iPod was revamped to be even smaller and lighter, releasing in 2004, followed by many other innovations to meet people's needs. -
Release of the XBOX game console
Invented by Kevin Bachus, Seamus Blackley, Ted Hase, and Otto Berkes of the Microsoft Direct X Development Team, the XBOX was created in November 2001. It was specifically built using similar hardware and software to that of Microsoft's typical product, computers. This allowed developers to more easily access tools to build famous games such as Halo: Combat Evolved. This drove the video game industry into the high rendered, movie like games we play today. -
Release of BluRay
Blu-Ray was developed and invented by the Blu-Ray Association in 2005. This was created to be a new standard in physical media that could outperform the DVD disc by storing many hours of HD video. This polycarbonate disc was used for feature films, video game discs, and more. Blu-Ray discs use blue lasers, which are capable of reading more information stored at a higher density. This led to the use of large video games and movies to be enjoyed in the comfort of your own home. -
Release of the first Quad-Core Processor
The Intel processor code named "Kentsfield" was released in 2006 and was the first ever quad-core chip available for purchase at a shocking $1000 price tag. It utilized a LGA 775 socket and could draw as much as 130 watts in some cases. This was ground-breaking in terms of computer performance and greatly helped with heavy task loads such as transcoding, data compression, video editing, 3D rendering, and more. This paved the path to the powerful computer that we know today. -
Release of the first Android OS System
The Android Mobile operating system was founded by Andy Rubin, Rich Miner, Nick Sears, and Chris White in Palo Alto, California, in 2003. After development, it was released on the first Android phone in America, the HTC G1, in 2008, competing directly in the mobile phone market with Apple's iPhone release in 2007. The Android operating system was later introduced to other manufacturers, such as LG, Motorola, Samsung, and more.
