    The War of 1812 started on June 18th, 1812 and ended on February 18th, 1815, lasting for two years and eight months. No boundary changes resulted from the War of 1812 but an important treaty, The Treaty of Ghent, was signed on December 24th, 1814 that brought an end to the battles. When the US Congress ratified the treaty in February 1815 the war was officially over.
