    Conquest in San Martin
    It began with the entry of the Spaniards in 1537, by the north of our region from Chachapoyas to Moyabamba. It was Hernando de Alvarado with the support of Cacique Huamán, who managed to dominate the natives of the area. Alonso de Mecadillo burst through this valley heading towards the mountains of Aypena, passed to the Marañón and to Amazonas, arriving at the native town of Machifalo, where he found gold and wealth.
    His passage through San Martin was a horror, destruction and death.
