Headright System
The 'head" of each houshold had a right to own 200 acres of land, plus 50 more acres for each family member. This lasted from the 1780s to the 1790s. This affected Georgia because they just gave away land that belonged to Georgia. -
University of Georgia
First public college in the united states. The university was a land grant created by the government. It affected Georgia because people could get free education. -
Louiseville
Louiseville was the 3rd capital of georgia. The government had to move the capital because it was placed in a swampy area, and there were alot of masquitos which brought Malaria. It affected Georgia because then there would be no Atlanta. -
Cotton Gin
The Cotton Gin was invented by Eli Whitney. The Cotton Gin seperated the cotton from the seeds. -
Yazoo land Fraud
Georgia was bribed to sell the land which is now Mississippi and Alabama. The government said it wasn't allowed and reduceed the land of georgia. The Federal government owned the land and created the states of Alabama and Mississippi. -
Land Lottery
White men 21 and older had the chance to spin a wheel to win land. It lasted from 1805 to 1833. They distributed to 100 acres of land. -
railroads
First constructed in georgia in the 1830s. It transported busnesses, goods, and people into and out of the state of Georgia. All tracks intersected at terminus. -
Baptist/Methodist
two largest denominations in Georgia. The two denominations spread through Georgia in the 1700's.
