Meeting New People
Teton Sioux demanded one of their boats as a toll in order to travel father up river. However with help from Chief Black Buffalo he resolves the situtation before more fighting happened. -
Toussaint Charbonneau and Sacagawea
Toussaint Charbonneau, who was a French Canandian fur trapper was hired as an interpreter. His wife Sacagawea was captured by the Hidatsas and sold to him. But was considered very helpful to the expedtion, she showed best places to fish and hunt. -
Fort Mandan
Fort Mandan is completed and the expedition moves in for winter -
Scientific discoveries
Lewis and Clark send a dozen men back downriver with maps, reports, Indian artifact and other scientific discoveries for Jefferson.While the rest of the men heads west. -
Passing the Great Falls of the Missouri
Lewis comes to the Great Falls of the Missouri, and discovers four waterfalls. The expedition will continue for about a month until they get past the waterfalls. -
A Disappointment in Discovery
Lewis continues to the Continental Divide expecting to see plains but finds more mountains. -
Camp Fortunate
Lewis encounters the Shoshones and the rest of the expeditions arrives. They discover the chief is Sacagawea's brother and negotiate for horses. -
Columbia River
The expedition crosses the south side of the Columbia River. They decided this by takinga vote. -
Chiefs
Missouri, Oto, Arikara, and Yankton Sioux chiefs are welcomed by President Jefferson. Lewis and Clark had already met them before. -
Fort Clatsop
Clatsop Indians were given Fort Clatsop, which it was named after. Lewis and Clark began their expedition home. The Importance of this event is that they completed their original expedition as planned and are returning home -

Expedition Home
They reached the Bitterroot Mountains,but they had to wait for all the snow to melt before continueing their journey. At this point they again are staying with the Nez Perce. Lewis described them as, "the most hospitable, honest and sincere people that we have met with in our voyage." -

Comming Home
Lewis and Clark return to Washington D.C. they are treated as national heros. Both men receive double pay and 320 arces of lan as reward. Lewis was named to govenor of Louisiana Territory and Clark was made Indain agent for the West and brigadier general of the territory's militia. -

Lewis and Clark reach St. Louis after a 17 month long expedtion
