Laura and Willa born seventeen years ago
Laura Melon and Willa Pogue were born on the same night, seventeen years ago. Neither one knew the other existed, but yet they looked as identical as two twins could be. -
Laura assigned to Pogue's house
Laura Melon and her mom clean houses as their jobs. It is the only way they can afford to send Laura to school. They just get added as the cleaning crew to a new mansion down the road. Little do they know that it is the Pogue's mansion. Laura and her mom find out that the residents are snooty rich people with a daughter named Willa. This creates a rough work environment for Laura and her mom. -
Willa becomes enrolled to Fenwick
Willa Pogue's parents enroll her to a fancy boarding school called Fenwick Academy. Willa does not want to go to Fenwick, and would rather not go to school at all. She puts up a fight with her parents about not going to school, but they refuse to negotiate and will make her go in the fall. -
Laura and Willa finally meet
After a few days of Laura cleaning Willa Pogue's mansion, the two finally cross paths. Willa catches Laura looking in her yearbook after finding out that they look identically alike. Willa gets mad at Laura for invading her space, and yells at her to leave. This causes tension between Laura and Willa. -
Laura looks into different colleges
Laura and her mom consider many colleges and try to find one that is suitable for her and that is within their budget. Laura's mom tells her that she is going to have to go to community college because they can't afford to send her to a nicer one. -
Willa and Laura become friends
The two look alikes talk later after their fight and finally see eye to eye. They put the past conflicts behind them. They joke around about wanting each others lives, only to foreshadow that they would later switch lives. -
Girls plan to switch lives
Willa and Laura talk and plan for hours about how they are going to switch lives for a couple of months. They are both unhappy with their own lives and want a change. They get everything mapped out, even down to what they need to eat to pull off the switch successfully without getting caught. -
Laura disagrees regarding the plan
Laura is hesitant and doubtful that her and Willa can successfully pull off swapping lives for a couple of months. Laura understands the risks and punishments that come with the life swap, such as putting her moms cleaning business on the line to end up getting fired by the Pogue's. Laura shuts Willa and the plan down. -
Laura's mom gets married
Laura's mom gets remarried and is finally happy again. Along with a new husband brings his daughter, Angie, who is a crazy but laid-back twenty-something girl. Angie has a love and talent for repairing cars and fixing engines. -
Willa re-proposes the plan
Willa stays persistant and will not let the life swap plan go. She assures Laura that everything will be fine and work out, and Laura buys it. The two look alikes are in full motion and back on for trading lives for a couple of months. -
The girls switch lives
Willa and Laura proceed with the plan and switch lives. Laura ends up going to Fenwick Academy, where Willa was enrolled to and supposed to attend. Willa ends up taking over Laura's family cleaning business and spends her days scrubbing mansions for rich people. -
Laura adjusts to Fenwick
Laura arrives at Fenwick and meets many people under the name of Willa Pogue. Laura takes a quick liking to her history teacher, who helps her succeed in her academics. Laura also meets Caleb, a cute blonde boy who she develops a crush on. -
Willa meets Angie
Willa gets into the swing of things under the name of Laura Melon. Willa cleans homes by day, and spends the night with Laura's mother's daughter in law, Angie. Willa and Angie become great friends. Angie thinks that Willa is really Laura, her new sister in law. -
Laura flies under the radar
Laura is busy trying to juggle her school homework while also trying to act like Willa as much as possible to avoid getting caught for switching lives. Laura's only friend at Fenwick Academy is Caleb, who is also her crush, because she is trying to avoid people if possible to minimize the odds of someone finding out that she is not Willa Pogue. -
Willa's mom was a ballerina?
While Willa is cleaning the mansions one day, she is assigned to clean her own home. She later discovers that her mom used to be a ballerina. Willa's mom was keeping this hidden from her, because it didn't show who she really was. -
Willa's passion for cars
While Willa and Angie have been spending a lot of time together, Angie's car repairing hobbies have influenced Willa to give it a try. Willa discovers that she is a natural, and enjoys playing around with cars. -
Angie finds out about the switch
Meanwhile Willa and Laura have been living each others lives, no one was supposed to know or find out. After learning about Willa's passion for cars, Angie cracked the code and found out that the girls had switched lives. Angie had known that the real Laura couldn't stand the dirty smell of car engines, and found it odd when Willa, posing as Laura, suddenly loved cars. Although Angie knew about the girls' life swap, Willa and Laura did not know this and Angie did not tell anyone. -
Willa and Laura get caught
Just as the two girls thought they had the life swap figured out, they get caught and everything changes. Not only do they get in big trouble, they also have to go back to their own regular lives which they do not want back. They have become so used to living each others' lives which is not their own. -
Laura banned from Fenwick
When Laura and Willa get caught for switching lives, Fenwick bans Laura for pretending to be Willa Pogue who was enrolled for the semester. Although Laura is banned from the Academy, her history teacher agrees to continue to help her with her school work and also the search for college scholarships. -
Girls go back to reality
Laura and Willa return to their regular lives and find it extremely difficult. They had become so used to living as each other that they now feel out of place as themselves. Laura, Willa, and Angie all hang out together and become good friends. -
Caleb and Laura date
Laura reaches out to her crush, Caleb, from Fenwick after she gets banned. She tells him everything, including the life swap with Willa. Caleb is shocked but forgives Laura for lying to him before. Caleb and Laura decide to date, and get to know each other better.
