Some say that Stubbs was the write-in winner of the local mayoral election, with voters preferring this feline to the human options. Talkeetna's leadership is actually a Community Council, as it is unincorporated. The Matunuska-Susitna Bourough, which Talkeetna lies within, does have a mayor. -

Frank, a Cardigan Welsh Corgi, has been eying the role of "Mayor" since Stubbs been spending less time in the public eye. As of December 2015, Stubbs is alive and well and has no plans to give up the title yet. frankformayor
