September 11 attacks were a series of four coordinated suicide attacks upon the United States in New York City and the Washington, D.C. areas on September 11, 2001. It was orchestrated by Osama bin Laden. Nearly 3,000 people died in the attacks, including all 227 civilians and 19 hijackers aboard the four planes. I chose this event because we should never forget this horrific tragedy. -

On November 16, 2002, an outbreak of what is believed to be severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS), began in the Guangdong province of China, which borders on Hong Kong. Over 8,000 people became sick during that outbreak, and 774 of those who became ill died. I chose this event because it is related to Hong Kong. -

A powerful earthquake measuring 6.3 on the Richter scale struck the city of Bam in Iran's southeastern province of Kerman. 26,271 were killed and 30000 injured. I chose this event because we should try our best to prevent man-made disasters. -

At 00:58:53 UTC on Sunday, 26 December 2004, ther was an undersea megathrust earthquake off the west coast of Sumatra, Indonesia. The earthquake was caused by subduction and triggered a series of devastating tsunamis along the coasts of most landmasses bordering the Indian Ocean, killing over 230,000 people in fourteen countries, and inundating coastal communities with waves up to 30 meters (98 ft) high. I chose this event because it is one of the biggest disasters in Asia and many people died. -

Michael Jackson the most famous US singer dies after he suffered cardiac arrest at his home in the Holmby Hills neighborhood in Los Angeles, California. Later the Los Angeles County Coroner declared Jackson's death a homicide caused by the combination of drugs in his body. I chose this event because I'm also a follower of him and am quite sad about his death. -
