    The cold war started in 1945 right after WW II and ended in 1991. The soviet union was trying to spread communism. America was trying to contain communism and aid the countries that were against the soviets.

    The Berlin airlift started when Russia closed off all of the roads to Berlin. In result of this, they flew planes over Berlin and dropped supplies to the people who were there. Russia could not do anything about the planes because it would have started WW III.

    The soviet union started testing Atomic Bombs in 1949. The first test was called "first lightening" and it was very similar to America's first atomic bomb.

    In 1951, President Truman fired general MacArthur. Truman fired him because Truman didn't want to use nuclear weapons against the Soviet Union. MacArthur wanted to use nuclear weapons against the Soviets and so Truman relieved him of his duties as General.

    Joseph Stalin was born on December 18, 1878, in Gori, Georgia and died on March 5, 1953 in Kuntsevo Dacha. Stalin was General secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist party of the Soviet Union.
