Iosif Dzhugashvili is Born
The boy later to be known as Joseph Stalin is born in Georgia Russia. His father was a Cobbler but later in his life falls to alcoholism and beat his wife. He is eventually banished from the town. -
He begins calling himself Stalin
Losif begins using the name Stalin as a pen name meaning man of steel. Around this time he also joins the Bolshivics and becomes a key member. -
The Russian Revolution
The Russian Revolution, conducted by the bolsheviks who were lead by Vladimir Lenin takes over the government, exiling the Tsar and pulling russia out of world war one. Stalin then begins rising in the ranks of the Comunist party. -
Stalin becomes Secretary General of the Comunist Party
Stalin now has the power he needs to prepare for his rule of Russia. Has gotten to this position by building a strong group of supporters and continues to until his death. -
Vladimir Lenin Dies
Vladimir Lenin, arguably the most loved russian ruler of all, dies from the repercussions of a stroke. This allows Stalin to make his move and take the position. -
Stalin Takes control of Russia
After Lenin's death Stalin promptly takes control of country despite Lennon's warnings. -
Leon Trotsky is deported
After being kicked out of all roles of power and the communist party in 1927 and exiled to Siberia, Trotsky is deported and eventually ends up living in Mexico until he is murdered by a russian agent in 1940. -
Stalin Implaments the first of his five year plans
As part of his economic recovery attempt Stalin seized full control of the Russian economy. The series of five year plans set extremely high quotas and saw the creation of large state-run farms known as collectives. Because the Russian state had to force many of the workers to work on the farms there were many uprisings and killings ending with between five and ten million people dead. -
The great purge reaches its climax
The great purge was a Political repression of many in the Communist Party and government officials. Many were either exiled or killed to destroy all who were in position to undermine Stalin's rule. -
Stalin Dies of a Stroke
After Stalin dies of a stroke at one of his houses about twenty four miles outside the middle of Moscow. He is then Succeeded by Georgy Malenkov.
