    Presbyterians trace their heritage back to the sixteenth-century Protestant reformers, Zwingli, Calvin and Knox. They split from the Roman Catholic Church due to doctrine controversies.
  • Baptists

    -Roger Williams founded the Baptist church
    -Baptist church separated from the Church of England as they believed their followers should be voluntary and believers should be baptised.
  • Methodist

    -The Methodist church was founded by John Wesley.
    -The Methodist split from the Anglican Church of England
    -Methodist disagreed on many things, church governance, doctrine, worship styles, social principles, etc.
  • The Salvation Army

    In the slums of London in 1865, William Booth, a former Methodist clergyman, and his wife Catherine established The Salvation Army. When many poor and working-class people were shut out of churches, William wished to open up the church to the entire community.
  • The Uniting Church

    The Uniting Church is the third largest Christian denomination in Australia and the first church to be created in and of Australia. After many years of prayerful discernment, the Congregational Union in Australia, the Methodist Church of Australasia and the Presbyterian Church of Australia came together to create the Uniting Church.
