    This amendment required states to provide services to families of disabled children from birth, previously not available until the child turned 3.
  • Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) of 1990

    Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) of 1990
    In Oct of 1990 the Education for All Handicapped Children Act became, Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). It added traumatic brain injury and autism as new disabilities. Congress required that in a student's IEP they must include an individual transition plan (ITP) to help students transition to life after public education ends.
