Mercury started its misson on October 7th, 1958.
Gemini first flight launched on March 23, 1965. -
Pioneer Program
The first Pioneer Space launched on August 17, 1958. It costed over 350 million dollars. It proved that it was possible to send man up into space to explore planets and send up probes. -
Venera Probes
Venera 1 launched on February 12, 1961. Soviet RKA started the program around 1960. -
Mariner Program
It started on July 22nd, 1962. Mariner 4 was the first spacecraft to get pictures of Mars. -
Space Stations
The space station was located 248 miles above Earth and can be seen from earth. First Module was sent into space on November 20, 1968. -
Apollo Mission
The Apollo Project ran from 1961 to 1972. The First Moon Walk was on Juy 20, 1969. -
Viking Probes
Viking 1 departed on August 20th, 1975.
Viking 2 departed on September 9th, 1975. -
The Space Shuttle
The first space shuttle launched April 12, 1981. Space shuttles were made to transport people and cargo to and from Earth. -
Magellan Spacecraft
It launched May 4, 1989 from the Kennedy Space Center in Orsino, Flordia, USA. -
Gaileo Spacecraft
Launched October 18th, 1989 to Jupiter. The mission cost $1.6 billion dollars. It took pictures of Jupiter and its moons. -
Hubble Space Telescope
Launched into the Earth's orbit on April 24th, 1990. It brought back amazing pictures and new discoveries. Total cost was $1.5 million dollars. It helped find the age of the universe and the moons of Pluto. -
N.E.A.R Mission
Eugene Shoemaker launched on Feburary 7th, 1996.The cost wass $224 million dollars and took 26 months to build. -
Voyager Probes
Launched September 5th, 1997.
The goal was to expand the NASA program and to expand their learning. It was expected to operate for 29 years. They ended up learning a ton about planets. -
Cassini Misson
Launched October 15, 1997
Landed on Titan on January 14, 2005. -
Genesis Spacecraft
Sent to Earth's atmosphere on August 8, 2001 from Cape Canaveral. -
Mars Exploration Rover
Opportunity of the Mars Exploration Rover Mission launched July 7th, 2003. It discovered Bounce Rock, named so because Spirit bounced to a stop when it landed on it.
