Space Shuttle 1982
This is the year that STS 3,4, and 5 launched and landed. All these missions were carried out by the Columbia. STS 3 was delayed one hour due to failer in the heater. due to failer of heater on the nitrogen gas groud support line. STS 4 had a smooth launch .STS 5 was the first shuttle operational mission deployed two commercial communications satellites. -
Space Shuttle 1883
The launch of STS 6 set for Jan. 20th but was postponded due to a hydrogen leak into the number one main engine. It launched on April 4th 1983 at 1:30:00 p.m. EST STS 6 was carried out by the Challenger. It overall had a smooth trip. STS-41G the Challenger, was the first space shuttle to include 2 women, Ride ad Sullivian.STS-51A's mission was to monitor radiation, and to DMOS (Devusive Mixing of Oraganic Solution.) -
Space Shuttle 1985
STS-51C and many more launched this year. The STS-51C encountered many problems. It was scheduled to launched January 23rd, but it was postponded due to freezing weather. They did, however, end up launching succesfully but they found a couple of problems in the space shuttle, like high levels of helium comcentration. They then had to get backup flight system. They got on safely. This mission was dedicated to the department of defense. -
Space Shuttle 1986
Only 2 missions were sent in this year. The STS-61C AND 51L. The STS 61C launching was set back 1 day because it needed additional time to close the orbiter aft compartment. Then they ateempted to do a launching, but a solid rocket booster hydraulic power unit was exceeding the RPM redline speed limits. After 18 days, they tried again. Again, it was stopped because approximatly 4,000 pounds of liquid exygen was leaking from an external tank. Then it was setback two days because of rain. -
Space Shuttle 1988
STS 66's launch was delayed 1 hour, 38 minutes to replace fuses in the cooling syestem of two of the crews flight pressure suits, and due to lighter than expected upper atmostpheric winds. -
Space Shuttle 1989
STS 29'S launch manifested for February 18 was reassessed for a late February/early March launch to replace suspect liquid oxygen turbopumps on Discovery's three main engines and faulty master events controller. The launch on March 13 was delayed 1 hour, 50 minutes due to morning ground fog and upper winds. -
Space Shuttle 1990
STS 32's launch scheduled for December 18, 1989 was postponed to complete and verify modifications to Pad A, being used for first time since January 1986. The launch scheduled for January 8, 1990 scrubbed due to weather conditions. -

The launch was originally set to launch Novenber 19, but was delayed due to a malfunctioning redundant inertial measurement unit on the Inertial Upper Stage booster attached to the Defense Support Program satellite. The mission lasted 6 days and 22 hours. -
Space Shuttle 1992
1992 was a busy year. STS-42, 45, 49, 50, 46, 47, 52, and 53 all launched in 1992, 8 in all. STS-49 was a very important one, because the Endevourset all together 8 records, including the first mission to include 4 EVA's, and the first EVA to include 3 astronauts. -
Space Shuttle 1993
Another big year. STS-54, 55, 56, 57, 51, 58, and 61 launched and landed. STS-58's mission was to see the effect's microgravity has on insects. Altogether 6 insects were experimented on and disected. They werent altered at all. -
Space Shuttle 1994
1994 sent out STS- 60, 62, 59, 65, 64, 68, and 66. STS-60 marked the first flight of Russian cosmonaut on a U.S space shuttle. -
Space Shuttle 1995
STS- 63, 67, 71, 70, 69, 73, and 71 launched in 1995. STS-63 marked several acheivments, such as the first women shuttle pilot. It launched on Feb. 3. The launch went smoothly. However, three of 44 orbiter Reaction Control System (RCS) thrusters -- small firing jets used for on-orbit maneuvering -- sprang leaks prior to rendezvous. Shortly after main engine cutoff, two leaks occurred in aft primary thrusters. Third leak occurred later in flight, but the crew was able to fix it.
