  • Sputnik 1

    It was the first artificial sattelitte and it was launched by the Soviet Union. This is when Sputnik 1 was launched and it was used to orbit Earth. The Russians wanted to get ahead and start the space race.

  • Pioneer 0

    This was the first space launch of the Pioneer program by NASA. It wanted to go to the moon but it didnt reach maximum speed into space. It was unsuccessful.

  • Mercury

    It was the first U.S. orbit around Earth and it was created by NASA. This is when the Mercury program was "born". The U.S. wanted to compete in the space race.

  • Mariner 1 Probe

    It was the first Mariner probe to go to space and it went to Venus. It was created by NASA to get a better understanding of Venus and to give us knowledge about space technology.

  • Gemini

    This was trhe first Gemini launch that was created by NASA. It was a test and training for astronauts for future Apollo misssions. They wanted someone to land onto the moon and for the competition in the Space Race.

  • Apollo 11

    This was the first moon walk of a man by Buzz Aldrin and Neil Armstrong. They wanted to be the first men to go onto the moon,

  • The Skylab Space Station

    It was the first Americans space station. It was used to conduct space research from space.

  • Venera 7 Probe

    It was the first successful probe of the Venera Program. it was created by the Soviet Union and it went to Venus. They wanted to be the first to go to Venus. It transmitted data from the surface of Venus.

  • The Salyut Space Station

    It was the first launch of a space station and it was created by the Soviet Union. It was used to conduct research from space.

  • Apollo 17

    This was the final moon landing and it was the end of the Apollo missions. This was the only people to send beyond the earth orbit. They were able to land on the moon after only 8 years of work.

  • Pioneer 11

    This was the last launch of the Pioneer program by NASA and it was sent to Jupiter. It took close-up pictures of Jupiter of the Great Red Spot and it's moons.

  • Mariner 10 Probe

    Marniner 10 was the last Mariner probe to go to space. It went to Venus and Mercury. It was created by NASA and used to get pictures. It also was the first sattelitte to go to more than one planet.

  • Viking 1

    This is when Viking 1 was launched by NASA in Florida. It went to Mars and it took pictures of Mars in black and white. It also studied the ground of Mars.

    This is the second launch of the Voyager missions by NASA in Florida. They went to Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune and their moons. They wanted to discover the planets and the different parts of them. Also, for information on galaxies.

  • Voyager 1

    This was created by NASA and it was the launch of the first Voyager mission. It observed Jupiter, Saturn, and their moons. We wanted top find more information about the planets and if their is any sign of life.

  • First Space Shuttle Launch

    The ship was the Columbia and it would be a test for the new technology created.

  • Venera 15 and 16 Probes

    These were the last of the Venera Probes tfor the program They were by the Soviet Union and they went to Venus. They mapped the top half of Venus's Northern Atmosphere.

    First launch where NASA was paid becasue they put a sattelite into the space.

  • Challenger

    The flight exploded within 73 seconds of the launch from technical difficulties.

  • The Mir Space Station

    It was created by the Sovietr Union and Russia. It was largest space station and served as microgravity research for research on self-preservation in space

  • Magellan Spacecraft

    This is when the Magellan first launched in Florida and it was created by NASA. The spacecraft went to Venus and it took high definition pictures of Venus. It also mapped 99% of Venus.

  • Galileo Spacecraft

    The Galileo Spacecraft was made by NASA and it was the first spacecrfat to monitor the earth's atmosphere. Also, it was the first remote-controlled spacecraft in deep space.

  • The Hubble Space Telescope

    This is when the Hubble Space Telescope was launched in Florida and it was made by NASA, It taught us more about the universe and the galaxies. It also took many pictures of the galaxies.

  • NEAR Shoemaker Mission

    This was when the mission launched to the Asteroid Eros 433. It was launched by NASA in Florida. This was the first thing to land on an asteroid and they leanred how to deflect asteroids if they were coming to earth. We also got a better understanding of asteroids.

  • Sojouner Rover

    This was the first U.S. rover to go to Mars and it was created by NASA. The rover were used to take samples of Mars. Also, peoplewanted to know if human would be able to live on Mars

  • Cassini Space Mission

    This is when it was first launched and it was launched by NASA in Florida. It explored Saturn and its moons like Titan. It investigated all of the properties of Saturn and the tempuratures. They aslo investigated the rings pf Saurn.

  • Genesis Spacecraft

    It was a spacecraft that was created by NASA. It went near the sun and back becasue it wanted to get samples of solar dust. They also wanted to learn more about the sun.

  • Genesis Spacecraft

    This is when the Genesis Spacecraft first launched in Fllorida and it was made by NASA. The spacecfrat went close to the sun and returned to earth. It collected solar wind from the sun and we leanred about the sun and it's components.

  • Last Space Shuttle Launch

    The ship was the Atlantis and it is the last because NASA space center in Flordia is closing. Also, this mission was to bring a robotic refueling station into space.
