  • Gemini Project is Announced

    This U.S. project had 12 flights. It's goals were to test equpiment in space for up to two weeks.
  • Atlas Rocket Launches

    This manned spacecraft was launched by the U.S. as part of the Mercury Project. It was a manned spacecraft made to orbit the Earth.

    This program had ten missions, seven of them were successful. The goal of the program was to investigate mars, venus, and mercury. The first mission was on July 22nd, 1962 and the last mission was on May 30th 1971.

    These missions were the first sent out to take pictures of mars and deliver them back to Earth. The first mission launched on August 20th, 1975 and went into orbit on June 19th, 1976. The second mission launched on September 9th, 1975 and went into orbit on August 7th, 1976.

    This NASA project was used to transport astronauts and cargo into space. There were seven flights in total. The first was in April 1981 and the last flight was the Atlantis shuttle on July 21st, 2011.

    This NASA spacecraft was sent out to study Venus. It launched on May 4th, 1989 and arrived on August 10th, 1990.

    Galileo Spacecraft

    This U.S. spacecraft was the first to measure jupiter's atmosphere and it studied jupiter's moons. It launched on Octoboer 18th, 1989 and the mission ended on Spetember 21st, 2003.
  • Hubble Space Telescope Launches

    This telescope was one of the most succesful missions ever completed by NASA and has helped astronomers learn many new things about our universe.

    The NEAR Mission

    This mission's goal was to study asteroids and find out what made them different from the meteors that entered earth's atmosphere. It was the first spacecraft to orbit and land on and asteroid. It launched on February 17th, 1996 and last made contact with Earth on February 28th, 2001.

    Cassini Mission

    The goal of this spacecraft's mission was to learn more about Saturn and it's history. It also released the Huygens probe to Saturn's moon, Titan. It launched on October 15th, 1997 and reahced Saturn on June 30th, 2004.

    This NASA spacecraft was the first to go past the moon and collected information about the sun. It launched on August 8th, 2001 and crashed on April 8th, 2004

    Mars Exploration Rovers

    These two rovers were launched by NASA to study Mars's surface and find out more about it's past. The first rover was laucnhed on June 10th, 2003. The second rover was launched shortly afterwards and landed on January 24th, 2004. This rover stopped operating in 2010. However the first rover is still going strong.
